The Long Awaited ICC Cricket World Cup Schedule

Nowadays, ICC Cricket 20-20 World Cup has gathered equal importance in the cricketing aspect. Just as it came to an end last year cricket fans are eagerly looking forward to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011. This World Cup has been popular over the years and this time it will be the 10th one. People are in a position that they can no longer wait for it to arrive. They are ready to grasp every moment of this most happening event in the field of cricket.

As you all know that this huge event was scheduled to take place in Pakistan in the beginning. But the unfortunate happenings in Lahore forced ICC to move this event to the three south Asian countries because of security reasons. Now the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 will be hosted in India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. India being the major host country will host 8matches. The co host countries Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will get the opportunity to host 4 and 2 matches respectively. 14 countries will participate in this gaming event. The schedule planned by the International Cricket Council of the starting date is 19th of February, 2011 and will continue to the first days of April. We will get to enjoy the thrill for more than a month’s time.

The 14 teams are divided into two groups named Group A and Group B. Group A includes countries like New Zealand, Australia, Zimbabwe, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Kenya and Canada. On the other hand, Group B includes India, Bangladesh, South Africa, West Indies, England, Ireland and Netherlands.

The very first match of ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 will be occurring between India and Bangladesh will take place in Bangladesh. The second match to be held between New Zealand and Kenya will take place at the M.A.Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The quarter final matches are planned towards the end of March. The first of the quarter final match will be held at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Bangladesh on the 23rd of March,2 011. The first semi finals will take place between the first and third quarter final winners at Premadasa Stadium in Colombo,Sri Lanka. The second semi final will occur between the second and fourth quarter final winners at the Mohali cricket grounds in Punjab.

Cricket is like a religion in India. Almost every child in India dreams of being a cricketer. So, India is the proud host of the grand finale at Wankhade Stadium in Mumbai on the 2nd of April,2011. Cricket fans from all over the globe can purchase tickets at very reasonable rates. The price range of all the matches is not similar. They are different for all the matches. ICC has already managed to sell over 1 lakh tickets online. BCCI will soon venture to sell the semi final and final match’s tickets of ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.

More and more countries are coming forward to join this game of cricket over the years making the ICC World Cup 2011 event more popular with increased number of matches. This game is highly interesting, entertaining and easy to follow. As, a result people from all aspects of life irrespective of age, caste, country, are gathering interest in the game. So, more and more sponsors are also feeling the urge to invest in such grand events.
